Position Location: Plaquemines Parish, LA

The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and leadership in the development of refinery capital projects ranging from $0.3MM to $25MM. The Project Manager will work closely with other contract engineering firms, owner discipline engineering subject matter experts (SME’s), inspection, operations and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities may include:

- Providing single point of accountability and coordination of multidiscipline project engineering teams in meeting project objectives.

- Effectively champion and steward project safety, safety in design, environmental requirements, engineering quality, project costs and project schedule

- Identify, facilitate and champion appropriate project specific value improving practices (VIP’s)

- Effectively champion and steward refinery process safety management (PSM) process and procedures including management of change (MOC) and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA).

- Facilitate and solicit input from Client subject matter experts (SME’s) as required to ensure project compliance to the Client Refinery Engineering Practices (REP’s). As needed, initiate and facilitate deviations.

- Effectively facilitate, champion and coordinate operational, maintenance and turnaround team’s involvement to ensure project operability and maintainability.

- Ability to author and maintain scope, cost, cash flow, schedule, forecast and progress reports.

- Effectively facilitate, coordinate and document review meetings and technical proceedings

- Initiates & applies document control procedures

- Establish tracking document registers of all documentation relating to the project and facilitate resolution and closure

- Execute and facilitate project closure


Basic / Required:

- Bachelor's Degree in one of the following Engineering fields; chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation

- Two (2) or more years of oil refining or chemical experience

- Two (2) or more years of oil refining or petrochemical experience with projects greater than $5MM, either as a project engineer or engineering discipline lead.

- Has clearly demonstrated strong engineering competence and critical problem-solving skills in team work environments.

- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Energetic, self-starter that works well and interacts well within a team environment

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications; Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint

- Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills

- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

- Must maintain a current valid driver's license

- Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at


- Two (2) or more years’ experience in working at a refinery

- Familiar with Refinery Engineering Practices (REP)

- Competent in the practice and understanding of the capital project gated processes

- Familiar with value improving practices (VIP’s)

- Experience in PSM, PHA and MOC practices and processes

- Construction field engineering experience

Occasionally may conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site to gather operating data and equipment information. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

All candidates must pass background checks, drug screening and qualify for issuance of TWIC credentials.
