ON-SITE PROJECT MANAGER/ENGINEER
This position is: Full Time
Position Location: Shreveport, LA

Seeking responsible candidates with a strong Project Management acumen that plans, directs, organizes, and executes activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives of the projects are accomplished within a prescribed timeframe and funding parameters performing duties personally or through subordinates assigned to the projects as described below.

· Provides project leadership.

· Responsible for designated project results.

· Develop a Project Procedure Manual for projects.

· Reports on status of projects.

· Coordinates with Project Controls on the schedule and budget for appropriate element of project.

· Determines staffing requirements and directs design team personnel.

· Documents issues related to the contract, know the contract and execute per the terms of the contract.

· Establishes a cost-effective environment.

· Be proactive in meeting challenges and deliver value.

· Assess risk and take action to mitigate risk.

· Maintain communication on all aspects of the project.

· Responsible for effective scope definition and change management.

· Ensure a safe work environment and a safe design and client safety guidelines.

· Conducts requirements review.

· Assures that adequate Project Controls for the project are functioning.

· Establishes and defines project organization under guidance from supervisor.

· Develops Project Execution Plan for designated project.

· Ensures that the Project Execution Plan is followed during the life of the project.

· Coach and mentor project team.

· Interfaces with the client regarding project (s).

· Works toward ensuring customer satisfaction with project results.

· Complies with all operating guidelines and standards, including ISO – 9001 standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

· Capable of planning, organizing and running small projects up to $10MM TIC.

· Should have engineering management knowledge across multiple disciplines with emphasis on discipline interfaces and information flow.

· Working knowledge of material management processes across all accounts.

· Working knowledge of construction.

· Able to analyze project controls documents with knowledge across a spectrum of projects.

· Able to present cost estimates to client.

· Must understand economics on projects.

· Capable of understanding contractual terms (warranty, guaranty, indemnity, etc.).

· Able to act as project manager on small to medium sized projects.

· Able to prepare and administer business plan including risk mitigation.

· Must have demonstrated leadership capability on projects.

· Excellent communication skills with task force and client management.

· Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.

· Must be able to make decisions that must be made, however unpopular.

· Exhibits interest in people development and training own project backup.

· Works well with client personnel.

Computer Skills

  • SAP, Word, Excel, Power Point

Conduct field trips as necessary to gather operating data and equipment information required to develop the project scope. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

All candidates must pass background checks, drug screening, and pass client site specific safety training requirements.


Requirements:
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the engineering industry, 5 years as project engineer is preferred. Professional Engineering license preferred, not required. 10 + years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Capable of planning, organizing and running small projects up to $10MM TIC.
  • Should have engineering management knowledge across multiple disciplines with emphasis on discipline interfaces and information flow.
  • Working knowledge of material management processes, construction and site issues.
  • Strong leadership presence, motivational skills, and customer service oriented.
  • Assure that adequate Project Controls for the project are in place and are functioning.
  • Capable of supervising and communicating with the project engineering team to ensure complete understanding and fulfillment of project/program objectives.
  • Refinery, petrochemical, or chemical industry experience is preferred.
