Ford Bacon & Davis LLC

This series of Fish Talks was specifically created at the request of the  Construction Industry Institute's(CII) Next Gen Committee, as a part of their knowledge transfer initiative.

January, 2014 was a milestone event marking over fifty years in the
engineering and construction industry for John. In this series of Fish Talks, John shares some of his insights and experiences while working in various aspects of the industry. These range from being a Piping Designer (Nothing stimulates the mind of an engineer like a finished drawing) to Business Development (Helping customers to solve problems).

John started his career as a "turn-red-black" drafter in 1963. In 1966 he joined the U.S. Army Reserves, where he spent twenty-two years, retiring as the Acting Command Sergeant Major for the 4151st USAR School Unit. It was in the Reserve School Unit that he received the professional leadership training that became so valuable for his civilian career. Along the way John has been a Senior Designer, Project Design Coordinator, "Rat Killer," Construction Coordinator, Estimator, Project Manager, the architect for a fully integrated Project Information Management System (iPIMS), and has designed multiple training courses in all aspects of professional development and engineering topics.

John is currently representing Ford Bacon & Davis as a Board of Advisor for the Construction Industry Institute (CII) as well as serving on numerous research teams. In addition, John is the chair for the CII Front End Planning Community of Practice, Break Through Strategy Committee, and serving as consultant to  several FIATECH teams that focus on the implementation of technology innovation for our industry.
