John Fish Receives Prestigious Industry Award - Monday, August 6, 2018

On July 23, 2018, Ford, Bacon & Davis’ own John Fish, Director-Project Support Services, was presented with the prestigious James B. Porter, Jr. Award, at the Construction Industry Institute’s (CII) annual conference, held at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis, IN.

CII was established in 1983 with a goal to improve the competitiveness of US businesses in the global market. The mission of the organization is to "inspire owners, service providers, and academia to collaborate through research to produce best practices and implementation resources, creating innovative solutions that tangibly improve safety and capital efficiency.”

The organization annually selects an individual who displays traits and leadership qualities of James B. Porter, Jr., former chair of CII, and the first recipient of the "James B. Porter, Jr. Award for Technology Leadership”. The award is presented to someone who takes a leadership role in identification, investigation, and implementation of technology, which will add value for the construction industry.

The criteria for the award included:

· Significant technology awareness contributions to the construction industry.

· Demonstration of the highest degree of personal dedication to the development and advancement of technology within the capital projects industry.

· A leadership position in the construction industry from which others can be influenced by example and direction.

· A record of accomplishment that brings distinction to the recipient, the organization with which he or she has been associated, and to the industry at large.

"John personifies what the James B. Porter, Jr. Award is all about. I have known him since 1981. He has innovation leadership in his DNA,” exclaimed Rick Moore, President of Ford, Bacon & Davis, LLC.

With over 140 owners, engineering and supplier firms, who are members of CII, and more than 560 people attending the annual conference, John remarked "I have been active in CII since 1994 and FIATECH (who merged with CII on January 1, 2018) since 2007, serving as a member of the Board of Advisors, and working on research teams with some of the finest minds and leaders of our industry.” He continued,"This education in leadership and innovation is one that you cannot get anywhere else on the planet.CII focuses on researching and documenting industry best practices.FIATECH focuses on the identification and implementation of technology. When you have the opportunity to blend best practices with technology you have a part in creating the future for our industry. I was blessed."
