FB&D has automated the process to identify potential clashes in the design model, new to new, and new to existing using our point cloud scans. Automating the clash detection process saves our designers time and ensure that our clients will get clash free design on every project.

FB&D understands the value of Data Integrity as we migrate toward Digital Data Centric Design and Construction. We have developed audits that auto run overnight to identify any data/tag orphans between the 3D model and all other documentation. This information is fed back to the design leads for prompt corrective actions. Our data integrity scoreboard encourages team members to continuously improve. Tag integrity is essential to link all documents required to support procurement and the field planners at the site. The asset tag must be identical on all documentation in order to validate availability for the Craft Planners.

The industry standard is to assign piping spools numbers on the Iso or by the Fab Shop. Not at FB&D. We auto assign the spools, Visible Field Welds, and Bolt Ups directly in the 3D design model. VALUE: Visible field welds in the model makes it easier to review and maximize constructability. FB&D has developed an in-house program to auto-assign all components. The Auto-Spool tagging program eliminates all manual typing of the spool assignments, field welds or bolt-ups ensure data integrity and reducing engineering hours. All field welds and Bolt Ups are tagged with a unique number to auto-feed into a weld track and bolt torque master tracking logs.

FB&D has developed automation that auto calculates the cubic yards of concrete required for each segments of a foundation. We placed this calculation directly on the 3D model and pasted it to the 2D foundation drawings. This eliminates the need for manual calculation and make is easy for the craft and the craft planner plan their work in an efficient manner.

At FB&D our 3D design models are integrated into our Project Information Management System (iPIMS). This enables all stakeholders to see the visual progress of all the project components on a weekly basis. The FB&D Construction Model is unique in that it shows Engineering as well as procurement, fabrication, and construction status for all design components.
